Sam Altman warns: ChatGPT conversations can be used as evidence in court
Telegrafi / 2025-08
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has warned of the dangers associated with the overuse of ChatGPT, especially by young people who use it for personal or emotional advice.
He emphasized that conversations with this Artificial Intelligence are not legally protected, as is the case with relationships between patient and therapist, or client and lawyer.
Therefore, according to him, this means that information shared on ChatGPT can be used as evidence in court, reports Telegraph.
Altman pointed out that many people tell AI very personal details from their lives, which could have serious consequences in legal cases.
He added that there should be a similar level of privacy to what we have with mental health professionals.
In another statement, Altman expressed concern about over-reliance on ChatGPT for personal decision-making.
According to him, it is worrying that young people consider AI to be the "final voice" on every issue in life.
He stressed that OpenAI is working to find ways to address this growing problem.
