South African Music Award winning Dj & producer Nkosinathi ‘Nutty Nys’ Mbelu has become a household name in the South African dance music circuit.


Having travelled the globe and delivered his sound to a worldwide fan base, Nutty Nys has been churning out the music that he loves and delivering it to the ever-hungry public looking for something new and fresh in the ever- growing dance music scene in South Africa.

Nutty Nys has released the following albums:


  1. His debut album ‘Haus On Faya” in 2003,

  2. The compilation ‘In Retrospect’ in 2005.

  3. Yfm Presents A Dj Mix By Nutty Nys’ released in 2006.

  4. His fourth album ‘Vintage Love’ was released in 2009 ….one of the songs on the album was the smash hit ‘Nka Mo Dira’.

  5. His fifth album ‘A Wonderful Day’ , released in 2011


In 2010, deservingly, Nutty Nys received a SAMA nomination for ‘Record Of The Year’ for ‘Nka Mo Dira’ and also won the ‘Best Remixer Of The Year’ award.

Nutty Nys has also produced, recorded, written music for some of the most talented musician and Djs in South Africa namely: Lira, Dj Sbu, T-Bose, Mzekezeke, Mdu Masilela, Brickz, Big Nuz, Miza, Relo, Deep Level, Izinyoka, Daddy, 2wasa, Ghetto Lingo.


Nutty Nys is also a serious radio head with a deep and intense love for good radio. While studying Analytical Chemistry at the then Vaal Technikon, Nutty Nys joined the campus radio station TriTech Fm as an on-air presenter. In 2000, a new Gauteng based youth radio station called Yfm ran a competition with the aim of unearthing and discovering new talent to join their pool of super talented presenters. Out of 9000 hopefuls, Nutty Nys won the competition and joined Yfm on the 4th of March 2000.


Nutty Nys hosted the weekend graveyard show and then moved to the show called ‘The Playground’ which aired on Saturday evenings between 6pm and 10pm. On the show, Nutty Nys had a specialist house music feature called ‘The Red House’ which was one of the most popular house music shows at that time.


In 2004 Nutty Nys joined the music department at Yfm under the mentorship of the late Iggy Smallz. Nutty Nys was later promoted to Music Manager at Yfm.


Currently, Nutty Nys is the head of music at Kaya FM 95.9.
