Jonny Miller: The Pulse of South African Beats

In the vibrant landscape of South African music, Jonny Miller stands out as a DJ and producer whose sounds resonate with the heartbeat of the nation. His eclectic sets are a fusion of deep soulful house, afro-house, broken beat, and forward-thinking bass music, reflecting a deep connection with the diverse rhythms of South Africa.

Musical Journey

Jonny Miller’s musical journey is marked by collaborations and explorations across genres. He has been featured on labels such as Atjazz, Stay True Sounds, Get Physical, R2 Records, Paper Recordings, Peng, and Soul Candi, showcasing his versatility and class as a producer. His DJ sets are known for their rich depth, blending everything from NY disco to downtempo grooves and dance music classics

Collaborative Works

One of Miller’s notable works includes the album Connected, a collaboration with fellow artist Kid Fonque. Despite being continents apart, the duo connected over a shared love of music, culminating in an album that represents the best of both their worlds. The project was crafted during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns, leaning heavily on South African vocal talent to create a sound that’s both unique and strongly identifiable

Recent Highlights

Miller’s recent work includes the single ‘Afrika Is The Future!’ from the Connected album, which was released in early 2021. The track was so well-received that it led to a series of remixes by some of Miller’s favorite producers, including Shur-I-Kan and up-and-coming South African producer Masšh. These remixes bring an Afro-Tech feel with heavy builds and a lot of soul, further cementing Miller’s influence in the music scene.

Continuing the Beat

As a label manager, broadcaster, and Ableton/Mix consultant, Jonny Miller continues to shape the soundscape of South African music. His work not only entertains but also inspires, as he brings the spirit of South Africa to the world stage.
