I.T. is a 2016 techno-thriller film directed by John Moore, starring Pierce Brosnan as Mike Regan, a self-made aviation tycoon. Regan lives with his wife and teenage daughter in a state-of-the-art smart home filled with modern technology. His company is on the verge of launching a revolutionary app and seeking crucial financial approval.

The story takes a dark turn when Regan hires Ed Porter, a 28-year-old information technology consultant, to fix his home’s Wi-Fi but later fires him after Porter becomes overly involved with Regan's daughter. Porter then uses his tech skills to stalk the family, infiltrate their smart house systems, manipulate and terrorize them remotely, putting their lives and business at stake.

The film explores themes of digital vulnerability, privacy invasion, and the dangers of unchecked technology, as Mike Regan fights to protect his family and livelihood against an invisible, tech-savvy adversary. The plot builds toward a tense cat-and-mouse confrontation where technology is both weapon and battleground. Supporting cast includes Anna Friel as Rose, Mike’s wife, and Stefanie Scott as Kaitlyn, his daughter.

Though the film was noted for its timely subject matter on technology misuse, reviews describe it as a conventional thriller with Pierce Brosnan delivering a smooth but sometimes unconvincing performance in a role that pits him against a young, obsessive IT expert. The movie highlights issues of cybersecurity, privacy, and the personal risks inherent in a connected world.

In sum, I.T. offers a contemporary thriller set in a high-tech environment, examining how advanced technology can be exploited for personal vendettas and the fight to reclaim control in a digital age.
